Background

One Care is a GP-led organisation that represents and supports GP practices in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. Established in 2014, they have over 80 member practices across the area who provide healthcare for around 1 million patients.

Challenge

Running essential healthcare services requires system downtime to be kept to a minimum or eliminated completely, and so One Care were looking for an IT solution which could protect them from unnecessary periods of downtime and ensure service continuity. It is a common misconception that IT systems failures are inevitable, and the challenge was to address this and ensure systems errors or faults do not impact service delivery.

Solution

Bristol IT Company employed a combination of their own in-house and third party monitoring tools to provide One Care with full, 24×7 proactive infrastructure monitoring and support. Systems were setup to monitor the IT network including connectivity, and on-premise and cloud servers’ health using proactive and intelligent tools which can detect potential hardware and software failures before they happen. Deploying best in breed security monitoring and data protections tools, Bristol IT Company’s firewall monitoring solution was developed in-house and like our other monitoring solutions, it is directly linked to our IT service desk system. With these in place, quick and proactive fault resolution can be carried out before the faults affect critical service delivery systems and often without the client even noticing that there’s been a problem, or that a potential catastrophe has been avoided.
